Invisalign Teen available in Yorktown Heights

Invisalign Teen is available in Yorktown Heights with Glaser Orthodontics. We are very sensitive to the fact that image is very important to teens. Image is so important at any age but especially to teens. Some teens do not like the thought of having metal brackets and wires constantly attached to their teeth and this may intensify their already-delicate confidence. The good news is that there is a clear alternative to traditional braces with Invisalign Teen! Glaser Orthodontics wants to remind you that Invisalign Teen gives your teen a whole new way to wear braces for a “clearly” amazing smile!

How does Invisalign Teen work? Much in the same way as Invisalign, but with a few added characteristics tailored specifically to teenagers’ lifestyles in Yorktown Heights. For instance, Invisalign Teen is designed with “compliance indicators” that fade from dark to light during the two-week period during which that particular tray is used. Once the indicator has faded, teens know to change trays. Replacement Invisalign Teen aligners can be ordered in case the original aligner ends up lost or broken, which is another big benefit for the patient!

For Invisalign Teen to be the most effective to teens in Yorktown Heights, the same guidelines for Invisalign should be followed. They are:

Wear each set of aligners for about two weeks.

Remove the aligners only to eat, drink, brush and floss.

Wear the clear aligners for at a minimum of 20-22 hours per day

Visit Glaser Orthodontics every 8-10 weeks for an orthodontic check-up

See your dentist every 6 months for regular cleanings

The treatment period for Invisalign Teen varies from nine to 24 months, but varies depending on each case. If your teen is considering orthodontic treatment, please contact Dr. Glaser and we’ll answer any questions you may have about Invisalign Teen. When Should my Child see an Orthodontist?

Orthodontic treatments and dental treatments are quite different. Orthodontic treatments, such as those used by Glaser Orthodontics near Croton are used to address issues such as malocclusion, tooth alignment, and jaw spacing, while dental treatments are aimed at maintaining overall tooth health. Because of the specific nature of orthodontic treatments, it can sometimes be tough for parents to know when their child should see an orthodontist. Below are some telltale signs for parents for keep an eye out for.

  • Asymmetry – If you notice that your child has an asymmetrical face or if their teeth don’t line up, you should probably consult an orthodontist

  • Problems with Speaking and Eating – A visit to an orthodontist should be scheduled if you notice your child is having trouble biting or chewing food, speaking, or is experiencing cheek-biting

  • Bad Bite – Malocclusion, or bad bite, can begin to develop as the adult teeth grow in and replace the primary teeth. You can usually see the signs of bad bite between middle childhood and the pre-teen years, and an orthodontist should be consulted in order to evaluate and diagnose bad bite.

  • Tooth Crowding – If your child’s adult teeth have started to grow in and are already showing signs of crowding, see an orthodontist and discuss braces.

Tooth Grinding – Many children grinding their teeth either at night or unconsciously, which can lead to tooth damage, TMJ, and headaches.

These are the most common signs that indicate your child should see an orthodontist, but the American Association of Orthodontics suggests parents should bring their children in for an examination either way before the age of seven. This is done because an orthodontist can detect problems that may be more subtle, and come up with an effective orthodontic treatment plan. If you suspect your child is suffering from any of these symptoms, schedule a visit with Glaser Orthodontics his office near Croton.

Adult Braces in Westchester

Glaser Orthodontics, located in Westchester understands that every patient has different orthodontic needs, especially adult patients. This is why Dr. Glaser provides his Westchester patients looking for adult braces with several orthodontic treatment options including the innovative Invisalign System. Today, many of our adult patients are choosing not to wear traditional metal braces and instead are enjoying Invisalign – a popular alternative to visible metal braces that are not bonded to the teeth.

Invisalign for Adults

Far different from conventional metal braces, the Invisalign System as this orthodontic treatment option consists of a series of clear, removable, smooth plastic aligners that gradually move teeth into the desired position. Just as the name suggests, Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible which means you can improve your smile without most people even noticing that you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment.

If you’re an adult and would like to have your teeth straightened discreetly without having to wear visible metal braces, Invisalign is the clear choice. Many adults who have put off having their teeth straightened because they didn’t want to wear metal braces have gone ahead and improved their smiles with Invisalign.

Advantages of Invisalign

The advantages of Invisalign over traditional braces are numerous. Because the Invisalign aligners are removable, you can take them out when you eat, brush and floss and then simply put them back in when done. This means that, throughout the treatment process, you can continue enjoying all those foods you love and maintain good oral hygiene.

Another advantage is that the soft, flexible material which the aligners are made of won’t irritate the inside of your mouth, unlike metal wires and brackets, and can provide you with a higher level of comfort. If you happen to grind your teeth, the Invisalign aligners can double as thin mouth guards that will provide your teeth with protection from excessive wear.

The Invisalign Process

When it’s been determined by Glaser Orthodontics that you are a candidate for Invisalign, we will use special computer software to design a plan for the movement of your teeth from their current positions into the optimal alignment. This movement will be broken down into stages. For each stage, two plastic aligners – one for your top teeth and one for the bottom will be made. You will be instructed to wear the first set of aligners for two weeks for at least 20 hours per day. You’ll then move on to the next set of aligners in the series and will continue doing so until your teeth are aligned correctly.
